Generally, those who follow the 'one body part per day' workout, use barbells in the first week, and substitute it with dumbbells during the second week of their chest workout. If you are unsure which routine to follow, take a look at some of the points given below, to decide for yourself.
It is not necessary that bench press should be done only with barbells. It can also be done with dumbbells with similar results. The other benefit of doing it with dumbbell is, that the dumbbells demand better coordination and force the stabilizing muscles to assist well. Make sure you do this exercise on a flat bench.

You also need to ensure that UV stabilisers are added to the mix of plastic pre-moulding so the colours on the finished garden bench that you buy wont fade over time.
