For a power-lifting routine, it is advisable to start off with about 175 pounds of weight. One needs to carry out a few repetitions for each set, and then alter the amount of weight you lift with each subsequent sitting. For instance, if one follows the routine on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, then on the first day, one should lift 175 pounds of weight with 5 repetitions, and then with 4 repetitions and so on, for 5 sets. The routine would be as follows:
It is not affected by the weather conditions so can be left outside all year round and still look the same in December as it was in January.
Here, you lift almost 60-65% of your body weight. But you don't have to worry about it even if you are a little overweight, as the resistance you subject your body to during a push up, is proportional to the capacity of your body.
Lie flat on the bench and keep your feet flat on the floor, so that you have better balance. Lift one dumbbell at a time, off the floor. Hold the dumbbells straight above your eyes and let the palms face forwards. Slowly lower the dumbbells to your outer chest and stretch your chest to maximum at the bottom, but make sure the dumbbells do not crash on the chest. Now raise the dumbbells till your arms are nearly straight and your elbows are locked. When you are doing this exercise, keep controlled motion and avoid jerky movements.
