What most of us don't realize is that once our muscles get used to doing the same thing on a regular basis, they grow accustomed to it. When that happens, all the bench press gains are going out the window. It's the same with the rest of our muscles as well. Once we hit one of these plateaus, it's very frustrating and easy to lose the motivation to keep at it.
Even a very heavy person can work out with this exercise, whereas he may be unable to do a single push up.
